Elli, Ele, Elly or almost any other variant looks like a girl's name. With Isabella and Gabriella being so popular, there are a lot of little Ellas and Ellies running around, so I'd be extra cautious.

Reply:Assuming by Elli/"E lie" you mean Eli (said EE-lie), that seems the obvious choice. Elli will likely be mistaken for the feminine nickname EL-ee more often than not.

I think that Eli is just Eli. Elli looks like Ellie to me, a girl's name. It's an unusual name, I think it would be best as simple, classic, Eli. There is another acceptable way: Ely, but I think it's too close to Elly.
