My husband and I are thinking about Aydin for a boy name. What do you think about the name and the spelling?

Aidan is okay. It's incredibly popular, and has too many variants, like Braden, Caden, Hayden, Zayden, Jadyn, etc. The spelling Aydin is awful. It's a butchering of a classic name in a desperate attempt to make it unique. It looks like something I would toss down in Scrabble to try to get rid of all my vowels.

Aidan is nice, why not something less common, like Asher, Abram, or Archer?

My husband and I are thinking about Aydin for a boy name. What do you think about the name and the spelling?
It is really, really, really popular. He is going to be known as Aydin + his last initial.

I think Mike is going to be a more uncommon name! LOL!

But seriously, I do still like the name. I prefer the spelling as

Ayden. That is super cute.

My sisters sons name is Kaeden. It is spelled differently so the name doesn't blend in with all the other common Cadens.

The child makes the name....you will never find a name that no one else has...unless it is completely silly or misunderstood.

Congratulations!
Reply:LIke the name, hate the spelling
Reply:Well, I like it (when spelled Aiden) but it's really popular right now, so be prepared for that.
Reply:every aydn, aden, adian, ect. I've known has been overly emotional and crazy wild.
Reply:i love that name... you should spell it Ayden though
Reply:If it is pronounced like Aidan, then becareful it is the #1 most popular name right now, he will have a ton of kids in his class with the same name. I do like the name though, if you dont care about the popularity of it. If you arent planning on pronouncing it like that, then im not sure how you are going to say it.
Reply:The name is too trendy right now which may not sound like a big deal, but it does become a big deal when down the road there are 3 kids in his class with the same name. It can be a real pain in the butt for the kid. I would think of something a little more out of favor.

BTW, I speak from experience because we named our kid Ethan. There's always a couple kids in his class named Ethan.
Reply:The correct spelling is Aiden. Say it out loud. Sounds the same as "Ayden", right? Which means the only result of your spelling it this way will be that your child will have to constantly correct people for the rest of his life. Why would you do that? Especially when there will probably be at least four Aidens in his first grade class who spell it the correct way- not to mention all of the Jaydens, Haydens, Kaydens, and Braydens.
Reply:My son's name is Aiden. I don't like the spelling with a y b/c it makes it seem more like a female. My daughter is Madisyn and we spelled that with a y.
Reply:To avoid a lifetime of headaches I'd go with the Aidan or Aiden spellings. Aydin looks like it should be pronounced "ay-din" rather than "ay-dun". Personally I prefer the Ayden spelling but I know what it's like to go through life with a more unusual spelling and forever have to correct people, so I tend to prefer the orignal/ most common spellings for first names. If this is a middle name then spell it however you want

As for the name itself, it's a nice name but it has been done to death recently. I prefer Adrian
Reply:I personally like the spelling to be Ayden:
Reply:I think the spelling ruins a really great name. Aidan's much better.
Reply:i luv that name its cute.............

CONGRATS
Reply:Its a very very popular name right now but i still like it. Although i kinda like the spelling aiden more the aydin.
Reply:I like the name......it's new to me......mmmm the spellin is ok.....maybe if it was Ayden instead of Aydin

But if you think of changin the name.....Hayden would be better.

congrats....%26amp; gud luck!
Reply:If you do go with it I would say Aiden. That is how it is generally spelled and it will be easier on him. Trust me I grew up with a common name spelled differently because my mom thought she was being unique. Don't make it difficult. All though it is a very common name now so if you do spell it differently it will single him out from the other Aiden's in his class.
Reply:I think it's too popular... I don't like it

I prefer Thomas or Tobias or Raphael or Gabriel...
Reply:I love the name, but not so crazy about the spelling...
Reply:Aiden is a popular name, not matter how it spelled

I like Aiden, not my child

I also like Zayden, a form of Aiden, that is much less common
Reply:To me, I think the "y" makes it femenine and the "i" makes it more masculine but I love the name.
Reply:I love the name - but so do lots and lots of other people. It's quite popular these days.

I like 'y's in names - but they tend to make them a little more feminine.
Reply:I don't think so
Reply:My little brother is named Aiden but your spellings cute too.
Reply:well I,ll say its good but you should combine you and the fathers name that's what I,ll do
Reply:it may be just me....but when I look at it i read it as

eye-den

the 'ay' reminds me of "aye aye captain"

and i agree with the others that it looks a little feminine.

Aiden

Aeden

Aedon

Aaden (kind of like Aaron)

just some suggestions
