Incorrect spelling of middle name on airline tickets?

recently i purchased aireline tickets and my middle name has a typo in it.

it is spelt jane instead of jayne like on my passport.

i asked the travel agent to change it but one of the flights has a waitlist and in order to renew the name we have to cancel it first which is pretty damn stupid.

and theres no garantee id get that spot

and im going with a group of ppl so i dont wanna take that risk

is customs really strict on spelling of middle names?

Incorrect spelling of middle name on airline tickets?
I don't think so. I've traveled before with a misspelling of my last name (they wrote it with a z instead of an s). I'm assuming that unless the customs person you end up going through is having a bad day and just wants to pick a fight they won't really care. I say keep the one you have and enjoy your trip.
Reply:yah..they are..better change it..
Reply:I booked a flight for someone and I put Mr instead of Mrs and there was no problems
Reply:This was in Europe that this happened. My girlfriend was traveling with her baby and didn't notice that the name was misspelled on her son's ticket when it was issued. When she got over to the gate, they made her not only get a new ticket but made her pay for a completely new one.

You need to contact the airline directly and ask what their policy is on this.
Reply:The airline is your problem. Call them and find out.

On customs. It depends where you travel. If the country requires you to have a return ticket, then yes it matters, but if not then customs could care less.

Polish last name spelling?

I need to find the REAL last name starter of my family. I dont know how to get it. I kow my last name has changed from the beginning of the Poland time. How can I find out what it was so long ago?

Polish last name spelling?
I would start by retrieving the birth records of your parents, and your grandparents, that may give you a clue.

Talk to your oldest living relative, and ask them.

Birth records and marriage certificates usually reveal quite a bit of information, including death certificates.

Go to your town or city hall to obtain these records,or the town or city where your parents/grandparents were born.

I have researched my genealogy also,I am part Polish also.
Reply:We seem to have a Polish group working up here lately. *smile*

For copyright reasons, I can't cut/ paste from a list email. I am on a Polish list, with (I think) some Polish persons who are actively on the list, and currently contributing. And name issues are right at this moment, being discussed.

Among the factors is the different alphabet, which affects pronounciation. (I am trying to do something of a translation). Also, in the US, what started as %26lt;fill in the blank%26gt; changed; the same is true there in Poland. NEITHER spelling from, for instance, church records, is any more or less correct than the other. The example also was given that many names would be recorded in Catholic registers, which (at certain times) were using the Latin equivalent of the Polish name.

What I am trying to convey.. is that we (today) think of spelling as WE know it, which tends towards the right/wrong thinking. For records there, when there are different spellings, all are just as "correct" as the others.

In all likelihood, there IS NOT ANY "REAL" original. It's a way of thinking that we need to let go, and be open to any spelling, as long as we can determine that it refers to the right persons or families.
Reply:The best resource is the library at the Polish Museum in Chicago. Every Wednesday, the library is staffed by very skilled researchers from the Polish American Genealogy Society who do free lookups and research for emailed requests. They have access to a couple of definitive works on the development of Polish surnames. They also speak Polish fluently and many were themselves born in Poland or else their parents were. There's also a very well-respected professor of History from one of the major Chicago universities who is available to assist them with particularly difficult questions.

I'd suggest sending them a detailed email and ask the for help tracing the development of the name.

My lifeguard certification has a spelling error on my name?

It's from the American Red Cross and they mispelt my last name. I was wondering who should I contact to fix this? The Red Cross or my instructor/the center where I was trained? Thanks in advance

My lifeguard certification has a spelling error on my name?
I would contact the instructor since they gave the files to the red cross. I am sure they would then take it up with the red cross and you would get a new card soon.
Reply:It's not a big problem right now put if you get more certifications (like your LGI or WSI) it will be. Contacting your instructors will do you no good as all the instuctor does is fill out the course record sheet to send to the red cross. All you need to do is call the red cross who issued you the certifications and let them know of the error, they should take your information and send you a new set of certifications with the proper spelling of you name.
Reply:It shouldn't be a problem if you explain it to your employer(s). If it bothers you, talk to your instructor. The same thing happened to me, and the instructor misspelled my first name and it didn't cause any problems where I worked.

I corrected the spelling of my name on my yahoo email, but it still displays incorrectly. What do I do?

I signed up for a new yahoo email account in a hurry and left out one letter in my name. I went to "My Account" and edited the contact name, but it still shows up incorrectly when I send email. What am I doing wrong? It looks like everything has been corrected, but my name is somehow still in the system wrong. Help!

I corrected the spelling of my name on my yahoo email, but it still displays incorrectly. What do I do?
You need to change your "From" and that will fix your problem.

1. Click Options in the upper-right corner of your Mail page and select Mail Options.

2. From the list on the left, click Accounts.

3. Click Add or edit an account 鈥?it鈥檚 toward the middle of the page.

4. In the box on the left, click Yahoo! Mail.

5. Click Edit.

6. In the "From name:" box, enter your name how you'd like it to appear in the "From:" line of your outgoing messages. Example: "Sally Tiptoes." This is the name people will see in their Inboxes for messages from you.

7. You can leave the "Reply to:" field blank, so your Yahoo! Mail address is automatically the return address when others reply to you. Or, you can specify a different return address by entering it after "Reply to:".

8. Click Save to put your new settings into effect.

Note: The "From name" field can't contain special characters like the "@" symbol. And, the address in "Reply to:" can't exceed 40 characters.

If you are using the All New Mail then it is a little different.

What is the value an autographed card of Hakeem Olajuwon with his name spelled Akeem?

He autographed the card for me when I lived in Houston.

What is the value an autographed card of Hakeem Olajuwon with his name spelled Akeem?
I saw some strange answers on this question.

Anyway Akeem is the original first name of Olajuwan, and a generic view, card condition decides its value. As you haven't mentioned the manufacturer of the card, it is even more difficult to assess its value. I strongly recommend you to have a price check on Beckett first.

If you are willing to pay for professional grading, Beckett can help too and you can find more on the following URL:

http://www.beckett.com/grading/pricing.a...
Reply:Ok Basketball fan 88. Are you being sarcastic or do you seriously not know who Hakeem Olajuwan is?. Cut the crap and stop calling yourself a basketball fan if you don't. Hakeem has already retired from the nba with two championship rings. Anyway, I remember myself when he was named Akeem and I would say that that card would be a collectible by now the same as a card signed by Lew Alcindor. Now this is the perfect time to sell that card. Hakeem just made the hall of fame and I'm sure some collector would love to commemorate it with a card that had his original name on it. Sell it for about 500 dollars or more on ebay.

Edit: It's ok as long as you realized your mistake.
Reply:What's with these answers? It depends on the condition of the card %26amp; the person willing to buy it. Akeem was the way he originally spelled his name.

From Wik: Muslim faith

In Olajuwon's college career and early years in the NBA, he was often undisciplined, talking back to officials, getting in minor fights with other players such as Magic Johnson, and amassing technical fouls. But later, Olajuwon took an active interest in spirituality,[37] becoming a more devout Muslim. On March 9, 1991, he altered his name from Akeem to the proper Arabic spelling Hakeem, saying, "I'm not changing the spelling of my name, I'm correcting it".[38] He later recalled, "I studied the Qur'an every day. At home, at the mosque...I would read it in airplanes, before games and after them. I was soaking up the faith and learning new meanings each time I turned a page. I didn't dabble in the faith, I gave myself over to it."[38] Olajuwon was still recognized as one of the league's elite centers despite his strict observance of Ramadan (e.g., abstaining from food and drink during daylight hours for about a month), which occurred during virtually every season of his career. Olajuwon was noted as sometimes playing better during the month, and in 1995 he was named NBA Player of the Month in February, even though Ramadan began on 1 February of that year.[4][39] He also gained recognition for his sportsmanship and his charitable pursuits. Some of those charitable pursuits, however, are not without controversy. A mosque founded by Olajuwon and others linked to extremist groups was closed by the US government in 2005[40] after tax records showed it had given money to the Holy Land Foundation, a charity shut down under allegations of funding terrorism (with charges ending in a mistrial). Olajuwon maintains he was not aware of the organization's alleged links to terrorism when he was approached to raise money for African relief work.
Reply:Wait till he gets to the NBA or makes it to the final four. Right now since he's still an unknown player to casual fans the value isn't that high. If he turns out to be a dominant center than the value might increase. You have nothing to lose considering Connecticut is a number 2 ranked team if you wait and then just put it on Ebay. Maybe he autographs without the "H" but otherwise people might say that it's a phony autograph.

MY BAD I wasn't paying attention to the question I'm sorry. I apologize this wasn't a joke I didn't read the question. From my answer I was thinking of someone else I feel embarrassed. I actually just didn't even read the question properly and I answered about UConn's star center Hasheem Thabeet. So again this was an error in judgement.

Can I fight a speeding ticket for my name spelled wrong?

I got a speeding ticket and my last name is spelled wrong it is incorrectly spelled Wellman when in reality it is Wallman.I got the ticket in the lower mainland region of Vancouver BC. My wife is the registered owner and her name is spelled as Wellman as well not Wallman. Can I fight this ticket and win or what?

Can I fight a speeding ticket for my name spelled wrong?
A parking ticket will not even have your name. I doubt you could beat that. Ever got a ticket in the mail from a camera at an intersection? I doubt you could fight that one either.

Nope, ain't gonna win. Pay up
Reply:I found this link useful when I fought my ticket. You might want to check it out.

http://www.ehow.com/how_469122... Report Abuse

Reply:Where you charged with something related to your name? No.

You where charged with speeding. The spelling of your name is irrelevant. Your ticket is merely your notice of violation and order to appear in court. The officer, not the ticket, is the states case. Th officer will testify as to the facts of the case, none of which include your name spelling. The officer can also amend any information with his testimony.

You can feel free to bring it up to te judge, but the very fact you will be seaking to he judge means you know the ticket was issued to you by your showing up. The judge will simply ask you if you are the person named in the ticket and if it was served to you. You can lie and say no and face perjury or admit it is you, making all further name discussion null and void.
Reply:Did you sign it? Were you fingerprinted? A minor mispelling will not help you win. Besides fighting it and losing will generate court cost. Is it worth that? If you must get an attorney to plea it down to a defective motor vehicle or something like that. No points acessed. That is if your state allows such a plea.

Good luck

By the way if you have a horrible driving record don't bother with the plea. You may or may not end up in driving school. .
Reply:Yes you can fight the ticket, no you will not win on those grounds. A typo on the part of the officer is not proof of your innocence to a magistrate. I hope this helps.
Reply:You'll lost on the misspelled name issue.... but you might win with a "criminally stupid" defense...

Give me a break. If you were speeding, just own up to it and be done with it. Sheeeeesh...
Reply:you may but that is a long chance to take. if i was u just get a lawyer to help you in court.
Reply:Nope, generally the courts will let minor spelling errors go.
Reply:generally a minor misspelling or wrong date won't make any difference.
Reply:no, you will not win for a small typo like that.. sorry, just pay it
Reply:unless you take it to the supreme court pay the fine.....

My husband and I are thinking about Aydin for a boy name. What do you think about the name and the spelling?

Aidan is okay. It's incredibly popular, and has too many variants, like Braden, Caden, Hayden, Zayden, Jadyn, etc. The spelling Aydin is awful. It's a butchering of a classic name in a desperate attempt to make it unique. It looks like something I would toss down in Scrabble to try to get rid of all my vowels.

Aidan is nice, why not something less common, like Asher, Abram, or Archer?

My husband and I are thinking about Aydin for a boy name. What do you think about the name and the spelling?
It is really, really, really popular. He is going to be known as Aydin + his last initial.

I think Mike is going to be a more uncommon name! LOL!

But seriously, I do still like the name. I prefer the spelling as

Ayden. That is super cute.

My sisters sons name is Kaeden. It is spelled differently so the name doesn't blend in with all the other common Cadens.

The child makes the name....you will never find a name that no one else has...unless it is completely silly or misunderstood.

Congratulations!
Reply:LIke the name, hate the spelling
Reply:Well, I like it (when spelled Aiden) but it's really popular right now, so be prepared for that.
Reply:every aydn, aden, adian, ect. I've known has been overly emotional and crazy wild.
Reply:i love that name... you should spell it Ayden though
Reply:If it is pronounced like Aidan, then becareful it is the #1 most popular name right now, he will have a ton of kids in his class with the same name. I do like the name though, if you dont care about the popularity of it. If you arent planning on pronouncing it like that, then im not sure how you are going to say it.
Reply:The name is too trendy right now which may not sound like a big deal, but it does become a big deal when down the road there are 3 kids in his class with the same name. It can be a real pain in the butt for the kid. I would think of something a little more out of favor.

BTW, I speak from experience because we named our kid Ethan. There's always a couple kids in his class named Ethan.
Reply:The correct spelling is Aiden. Say it out loud. Sounds the same as "Ayden", right? Which means the only result of your spelling it this way will be that your child will have to constantly correct people for the rest of his life. Why would you do that? Especially when there will probably be at least four Aidens in his first grade class who spell it the correct way- not to mention all of the Jaydens, Haydens, Kaydens, and Braydens.
Reply:My son's name is Aiden. I don't like the spelling with a y b/c it makes it seem more like a female. My daughter is Madisyn and we spelled that with a y.
Reply:To avoid a lifetime of headaches I'd go with the Aidan or Aiden spellings. Aydin looks like it should be pronounced "ay-din" rather than "ay-dun". Personally I prefer the Ayden spelling but I know what it's like to go through life with a more unusual spelling and forever have to correct people, so I tend to prefer the orignal/ most common spellings for first names. If this is a middle name then spell it however you want

As for the name itself, it's a nice name but it has been done to death recently. I prefer Adrian
Reply:I personally like the spelling to be Ayden:
Reply:I think the spelling ruins a really great name. Aidan's much better.
Reply:i luv that name its cute.............

CONGRATS
Reply:Its a very very popular name right now but i still like it. Although i kinda like the spelling aiden more the aydin.
Reply:I like the name......it's new to me......mmmm the spellin is ok.....maybe if it was Ayden instead of Aydin

But if you think of changin the name.....Hayden would be better.

congrats....%26amp; gud luck!
Reply:If you do go with it I would say Aiden. That is how it is generally spelled and it will be easier on him. Trust me I grew up with a common name spelled differently because my mom thought she was being unique. Don't make it difficult. All though it is a very common name now so if you do spell it differently it will single him out from the other Aiden's in his class.
Reply:I think it's too popular... I don't like it

I prefer Thomas or Tobias or Raphael or Gabriel...
Reply:I love the name, but not so crazy about the spelling...
Reply:Aiden is a popular name, not matter how it spelled

I like Aiden, not my child

I also like Zayden, a form of Aiden, that is much less common
Reply:To me, I think the "y" makes it femenine and the "i" makes it more masculine but I love the name.
Reply:I love the name - but so do lots and lots of other people. It's quite popular these days.

I like 'y's in names - but they tend to make them a little more feminine.
Reply:I don't think so
Reply:My little brother is named Aiden but your spellings cute too.
Reply:well I,ll say its good but you should combine you and the fathers name that's what I,ll do
Reply:it may be just me....but when I look at it i read it as

eye-den

the 'ay' reminds me of "aye aye captain"

and i agree with the others that it looks a little feminine.

What do you think of the name "Leyla Noor" or "Leyla Nur" (in any spelling? Leila, Layla, Noor, Nur, etc.)?

Do you think it goes well together?

Is it "obviously foreign"?

How do you picture this person in appearance AND attitude?

What do you think of the name "Leyla Noor" or "Leyla Nur" (in any spelling? Leila, Layla, Noor, Nur, etc.)?
I would spell this:

Layla Noor or Leila Noor.

The spelling of "Noor" reminds me of Queen Noor, and she is beautiful! I love Noor as a middle name. I'm not a fan of Nur - I would pronounce this "Ner".

I think that it looks foreign, but not in a way that will be a hurdle in any way. It is obvious how to pronounce it and it isn't difficult.

It sounds more like an international name - she could be from anywhere and it sounds like someone who is well educated, elegant, and popular without being snobbish.
Reply:1. It sounds like a first and last name

2. The Noor/Nur makes it obvious. Leyla/Leila is fairly common here in the US. (Nur means "only" in German too :) I saw Leyla Only )

3. Arabic? Bosnian?(thinking of Lejla by Hari Mata Hari)

She has pretty dark long hair. She's honest but friendly and soft-mannered
Reply:I like Leyla, Leila, Layla, Lela, Laela. . .

I don't like Noor/Nur. . .However, it does sound foreign. . .French. . .

I see a very pretty lady with this name. . .Long hair, fair skin, Long legs; a model. . .
Reply:I think they sound wonderful together, I like leila, not so much Nur, but they're amazing together!

Leila is not obviously foreign but Noor sounds India. Don't worry, Its not a bad thing.
Reply:Layla Noor is pretty. I don't think Layla alone sounds foreign, though Noor definately does. You won't probably too often say Layla Noor when talking to or about her. I think it's a beautiful name.
Reply:I might think that someone named Leila Noor may be of Middle Eastern or Islamic heritage, but it doesn't necessarily have to be that way. I'd picture this person as potentially exotic and interesting.
Reply:I don't like Noor or Nur, but it is obviously foreign and I love Layla (Leila is OK, but not Leyla).
Reply:Layla Noor, i cant say anything about picturing or anything!
Reply:Beautiful and regal.
Reply:Leila Noor
Reply:i like the spelling Leila. Noor is nice.

Reply:i like layla nur

How do you trace a surname if the spelling is an uncommon varient of a common name?

The surname is Clarke but in the past I haven't had much luck with tracing back with that side of my family. The "e" on the end makes it very difficult because to me it seems rare compared to just Clark which is a very common English surname. A while back I had a genealogy project and I asked my father and he had said that his grandfather had immigrated from Ireland and it was originally Clark but the E was added when he came to America. I'm not sure if he was being completely serious but his grandmother's maiden name was O'Mahoney which to me sounds like the epitome of Irish names. I guess my question really is has anyone ever heard of Clark spelled with an E at the end before? Maybe it is more popular than I think.

How do you trace a surname if the spelling is an uncommon varient of a common name?
You need to understand that here in the UK in the 18th %26amp; 19th centuarys the only people who could read were the verey well off and the Clergy. The Clergy were University educated but could not always understand what was said to them.

As a result you will find the same peoples surname spelt different ways, you just have to learn to use your best instints and take nothing for granted, Good Luck and Good Hunting.
Reply:Don't trace a surname. Trace the PERSON, who remains the same, irregardless of how the name got written in a record.

In other words... find grandpa. Find his facts, including possible census records that should indicate his place of birth.
Reply:Wendy is right. Trace the ancestor, not the name. Actually, the 1916 uprising or as the Irish call it the Risin, one of the signers of the proclamation of the Provisional Government to the People of Ireland was a Thomas J. Clarke. No doubt there are Clark or Clarke in England, Ireland and Scotland. The adding of the E or removing of the E doesn't mean much. Small spelling differences in surnames frequently happened. Actually, I don't believe in times past, people were too concerned with exact spelllings of names. I had an uncle whose given name was Clarke. He was named for a grandfather. On his father's death certificate it shows his father's name as John Clark

Tomlin, but i put him in my family tree as John Clark(e) Tomlin because I am not sure just exactly how he spelled it.
Reply:Hi I would say that Clarke is English.. And after coming to America they dropped the "E".. Doesn't seem right that it would be Irish maybe you father did'nt really know and did'nt want to tell you that :)

Definition: Cleric, clerk, or scholar - one who can read and write. Also from the Gaelic "Mac a' Chlerich/Cleireach"; son of the cleric or, sometimes, clerk. During the Middle Ages, the common pronunciation of -er was -ar, so the man who sold items was the marchant, and the man who kept the books was the clark. At the time, the primary members of the literate class were the clergy, which in minor orders were allow to marry and have families. The term clerk eventually (clark) came to designate any literate man.

Surname Origin: English

Alternate Surname Spellings: CLARKE, CLERK, CLERKE

Hope this helps you ...
Reply:I don't think it's that unusual, we have a family that live across the road from us with an e, on the end of Clarke.

We have Brown in our family the ancestors that came from Scotland had the e at the end of their name, the English side of the family spelt it without the e.

Why is my name spelled in all capital letters on my drivers license?

And on tax returns, on court documents, etc.

Why is my name spelled in all capital letters on my drivers license?
Because it is faster to type all caps in when entering large amounts of data.
Reply:Because those documents are addressed not to you, but to a "fabricated legal person" - a fictional entity. A sort of abstract, artificial idea of a corporate body over which you have signing authority. At least, that's how I understand its meaning here in Canada. I'm not sure if the meaning is the same in the U.S.

What has been the weirdest spelling of the name "Megan" that you have seen?

Today at work i saw the name "Megan" spelled like "Meihgenn" i was like wft? that is not unique at all!

What has been the weirdest spelling of the name "Megan" that you have seen?
A few days ago I saw a new baby announcement in the newspaper, and her name was Maeghanne. What's with the freaky pronunciations these days? Do people think that it's going to make them cool if they have a baby who's name looks like a foreign (and by foreign, I mean foreign) country? It just makes them look like bad spellers who aren't fit to be parents. What is the world coming to?
Reply:Well I think I saw one on a name tag that read Meaihggen! I also what like what the hell is that. Someone was drunk when they spelled your name. lol.

DO you regret the name you gave your child? or the spelling of the name you gave your child?

No. But that's because I took GREAT care in choosing a name that not only my husband and I loved, but wouldn't have negative effects on our little girl.

The reality is that no matter what name you choose, someone is going to hate it. I'm really open to names and other people's styles of naming. I just don't like when people go way too out there (Poppy Honey... come on now) or spell names unrecognizable or kre8ive (Riley and Rylee... okay, but Ryeleigh...uh...too much, the poor kid will be spelling it forever).

DO you regret the name you gave your child? or the spelling of the name you gave your child?
I do. My younger son's middle name is David. Although it is a fine name, I wanted to name him Keldon after my dad, and was outvoted. Keldon is a wonderful name, and only men named after my dad have it. (as far as I know.)

I regret not throwing a fit.

My older son has a fine name, Daniel Arthur.
Reply:Our son is Joseph, so definitely don't have any regrets there. My friend Malessa HATES the way her mom spelled her name. Everyone says Ma-lesa instead of Melissa which is how it's supposed to be said, even though people are saying it exactly how it looks. Spelling is so important.
Reply:Yes, I regret naming my oldest boy after his father. I did not want to do it in the first place, but gave in to the pressure (and fear) from my now ex-husband. To this day, my son has gone by a nickname completely unrelated to his given name and if I can ever track down my ex for his signature, I will have my sons name legally changed.
Reply:no. generally nobody does that. They will think a lot before they take a right decision
Reply:No, not at all. I named my son Jevon %26amp; I love his name:)

I love different names:)
Reply:not really i named him gabriel gonzalez
Reply:How about Michaela(whereas most nursing "experts" at the hospital where she was born insisted on spelling it "Mikayla" to appease the county health department!)?

Or my son:named Hathaway Sepulveda, because even though now he's a teenager, when he was little, he looked like '70's child actor Noah Hathaway, and Sepulveda Boulevard, because of the hotel in Torrance that he was conceived in!

Surprised?
Reply:No,not at all..and I have 4 kids...Dillon Thomas, Paige Nicole,Troy Denton %26amp; Austin Lee...not one complaint out of them as far as their names go either..=)
Reply:No I love my children's names. I just wish I could have more kids to use the other names that I like as well:)
Reply:Up until now, I didn't like it. At 40 +, it finally stuck on me and now I like it.

crazy.
Reply:nope and i even spelled my sons name different. Lukas instead of Lucas
Reply:I don't regret giving my son the name Kaden, but it has been used a lot in the last few years ( # 13 for boys in 2006)... Whether spelled Kaden, Kayden, Caden... there are a lot of them... My best friends has a step son named Kayden... I have had this name picked out since I was 14 though (my best friend (kaden) died in a fire).I was Set on naming my first son Kaden James, then conveniently I married someone whose middle name is James and his dad's middle name is James as well, so at least I am keeping it in the family. Next time I will find a name that isn't so popular...
Reply:No, of course not! My children have beautiful names!

Carter Gabriel

Carson Brianna

Noah Matthew

Emma Rose

Addison Riley

The reason that we named our children that is because we loved those names.
Reply:Nope
Reply:Not at all. Both she and I love her name because it's a classic yet different at the same time. Her name is Ccelsie (like Chelsea). She was born in 1998 and I didn't want her name so associated with Chelsea Clinton. I'm a big fan of alternate, PHONETIC (not Kriy8yive) spellings, so that's the spelling I picked. I've never really had any problems with people not knowing how to pronounce it, if you just really look at it, it's the same CH sound as in cappuCCino, and Elsie. Who can't pronounce Elsie?!?
Reply:i named my child Napoleon and I aint changing it.
Reply:Nope, you should think of that before you name your child because they have to live with that the rest of their lives.
Reply:No, my daughter is Savanna, and it is unique and spelled differently than the city of Savannah, which I did on purpose to name her like the African Savanna. And my son is Noah. Not unusual, but not heard too often. It is a strong male name.

What is the best spelling of this name?

if you want to be unique Tahrah is really cool!

i don't think Tarra would be too bad either

My son wants to name there baby girl kylee, but spell it Kaileigh. Can that spelling be used for Kylee?
I've seen it as...

Kyleigh

Yes, I believe you can spell Kylee as Kaileigh just the A will be silent. I think its creative and very pretty!!
Reply:That's the exact spelling of my daughter's name, and no, spelled that way it's pronounced Kaylee. Reverse the a and i and there would be a better chance of people understanding it. My sister made that mistake, she named her kid Laila. Everyone pronounces it Layla, but it's pronounced Lila.

To solve the pronunciation debate, how about we ask this user?

Kiley, Kylee, Kyleigh, Kylie.......MAYBE.....Kialeigh, but I like the other spellings better

However, if one were to pronounce it as it probably would be in the country of origin, it probably would sound like KIII-lee. If he doesn't mind a lot of people needing correction on how to pronounce his kid's name, go for it.

TX Mom
Reply:Yes but if people read it they might pronounce kay-lee. I like the original spelling of Kylie
Reply:Yeah.. I prefer the Kylee spelling myself, but it works.

I can see some people pronouncing her name is Kail, like Hail though.
Reply:unfortunately i think everyone of her school teachers will look at it and call her kaylee, not Kylee!

Good luck!
Reply:No matter what your son said about the A being silent, no one else is going to know that right away. Therefore, Kaileigh will be pronounced Kay-Lee. Kylee is a beautiful name, but it should be kept Kylee or Kyleigh.
Reply:Yes, I believe you can. I knew a guy named Kai once and that was how his name was spelled. I think I like the look of Kaileigh better than Kylee anyhow... I just don't like the look of the ee in Kylee.
Reply:it will be pronounced kaylee.

avoid that by replacing the ai with a y...kyleigh
Reply:Yes that spelling that can be used.

Other spellings:

Kyle

Kilee

Kyley

Kylea

Kylei

Kyleigh

Kailee

Kaileigh

Kailea
Reply:no - the a will never be silent. Kaileigh is pronounced Kaley. If you want a different spelling for Kylee try Kyleigh, Kileigh, Kiley, Kylie
Reply:Please, please PLEASE don't give your child a name that no one can pronounce and she will not be able to SPELL! I had to go thru that my whole life!

Fallaya is just my screen name...my real name has been nothing but a NIGHTMARE for me my whole life!!!
Reply:Ya, Kaileigh is the same as Kylee... it is just longer and looks weird.
Reply:yeah i think it would be mispronounced alot , looks really pretty though. i would just go with kyleigh
Reply:In English, when two vowels go a awalking, the first one does the talking - therefore this would be "Kay-lee".

But in German (and some other languages), it's the first vowel that is silent...so the question is - what is the language of your son's country?

If it's English, people will pronounce it Kaylee, not knowing (or caring) that he has chosen to pronounce it Kylee.
Reply:sure. he can do whatever he wants. the daughter (and parents) will just have to keep correcting people's pronunciation.
Reply:yes, but think of the poor girl, she's going to be correcting people's annunciations and spelling for the rest of her life...that's no fun. You should compromise with your son.
Reply:he can but it will be mispronounced for eternity.
Reply:Most people are going to pronounce Kaileigh as Kayley/Kaylee, simply because that is how it is pronounced.
Reply:People will think it's Kaylee. Since Kylee is made-up anyway, I guess he can do what he wants with it. I just don't like those K names with all the odd Y's and E's. Where did they come from?
Reply:i think you definitelly can. it's a pretty name and a pretty spelling of it. it's an Irish spelling I think.
Reply:well the a doesn't have to be silent because kai is not kay, but...well kai. so while it will cause confusion, kaileigh is correctly pronounced as kylee. but it does look a little complex. kailee, or kyleigh may work better, no?
Reply:Yes, Kylee can be spelled the way. I like Kylee.
Reply:I think Kaileigh is a very beautiful, Irish/Celtic sounding form of Kylee. =) It's unique and colorful. The worst that could happen would be her teachers asking her how to pronounce her name.

I would pronounce Kaileigh like kylee anyway.
Reply:I'm not sure how you actually want it pronounced-

Kylie

Kaylee

??

I think it's too confusing for people

Need opinions on a Name spelling?

Found out a few weeks ago Im having a girl, Were naming here Mya,Maya,Mayah, or Myah, which spelling is the best your votes will decide. Im trying to make it so pronunciation is easy for people when she's older and doesnt get botched

Need opinions on a Name spelling?
I like Myah :] that's just me because it's not too plain and it's not too weirdly spelled either. the "h" at the end adds some funk to it.
Reply:I prefer the simple, unpretentious Mya. Focus on the person, not the name, imho.
Reply:Myah is deffinately easiest and looks pretty too...

congrats on the newborn :) or should i say nearly born!

good luck, all the best!
Reply:i would go with mya! its simple but a very pretty name!! i love it!!
Reply:I like Maya. It looks the nicest and does not make the pronounciation confusing.
Reply:My cousins name is Maya.. and I guess it's pronounced Mia, I don't see see it lol it looks like (May-ah) to me lol. I think you should go with Myah or Mia.
Reply:i like mya the best
Reply:I like the traditional spelling of Maya. I think your daughter would appreciate it to. I deviated a bit on my daughters name, just changed an e to an i. Everybody misspells her name and it drives her crazy.
Reply:I like maya it makes it very easy for her to learn to spell and for other kids to spell :) Lovely name whichever spelling you decide!...xxx
Reply:Myah or Mayah...

One with a "h" at then end...

Cuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !!

xxxx
Reply:I like Maya. Seems like it would be hard to mispronounce that but people still find a way. And I love the name. So simple yet cute!
Reply:the best spelling of this name is maya this will be the good pronounciation for her
Reply:maya
Reply:Maya because that is the way it is supposed to be spelled. Creative spellings for names fly right up my left nostril.
Reply:Myah.
Reply:Maya is the best spelling because it's the most common spelling because of the writer, Maya Angelou. Most people will spell it this way even if you spell it a different way. Good Luck :)
Reply:Maya.

It's the obvious spelling - the one worn by Maya Angelou.

Mya makes me want to say "Mee-ah" - plenty of people swap out an "i" for a "y" these days. Ditto Myah. And I don't see the point of adding an "h" to the end of Mayah. Again, it makes me wonder if it is some other name.

The other valid option is Maia, the name as it appears in Greek mythology.

But I'd stick with Maya. Other spellings might be less common, but they're also far more confusing. And you're right to choose the spelling that will cause your daughter the least grief over the years.

Maya is a lovely choice. Best wishes!
Reply:I love the name Mayah, it's perfect.
Reply:I like Maya...it's fun, pretty and you won't have mispronunciation accidents...how you say it is how it's spelled.
Reply:i think bc it is a little bit of a different name, you should always stick with the traditional spelling! maya sounds, looks, and will be the easiest to pronounce! pretty name!

good luck and congrats!
Reply:Maya
Reply:Actually I prefer Maia. Of your ideas my fave is Maya.
Reply:Maya
Reply:In my opinion Mayah
Reply:Out of those, I would spell it Maya. It looks much better than the rest of them and it will most likely be spelled that way by others too. Most people are familiar with it so they will pronounce it correctly without problems. Mya, Mayah, and Myah look ghetto. My personal favorite is Maia.
Reply:Maya.

Though I would prefer another name like 'Mia' :)
Reply:Mya is the better out of the choices.
Reply:i like Myah. that's a really great name choice.

congrats and good luck :]
Reply:Myah
Reply:i would go for Maya

but i quite like it spelt Mia too, but i guess it could be pronounced "Meea" and your trying to avoide that. :)
Reply:Maiah-now thas cute

Is it true that spelling your name in cursive(script) is a good making out tipp?

im just beginning making out for the first time with my boyfriend, we have done it twice so far and i feel like im really bad at it. please give me tips!?!!!?!?!?!?!

Is it true that spelling your name in cursive(script) is a good making out tipp?
Umm... what? and if you mean with your tongue that's just gross!
Reply:what are you talking about?
Reply:i never heard that before

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
Reply:I presume you mean with your tongue, and no, that's just irritating. Having a guy's tongue in my mouth flailing it about is annoying. Don't read teen magazines for make-out tips. Just take it easy, relax, and don't open your mouth as wide as it will go and shove your tongue down her throat. Better to underdo it, than overdo it.

Someone changed the spelling of my last name on my yahoo. How do I change it to be correct?

When I signed up for yahoo I put my name in correctly. Well, someone noticed yesterday that it was not correct. So, someone changed it from what I had typed. How do I make the correction

Someone changed the spelling of my last name on my yahoo. How do I change it to be correct?
I strongly doubt that anybody got into your account and change your last name. If somebody actually stole your account, you would not be able to use it. If you have concerns about the security of your account, you need to change your password immediately. Make sure that you create a secure password that is at least eight characters long, uses numbers, capital letters, lowercase letters, and special characters.

Okay, let's also talk about privacy. You should never create a Yahoo ID that tells what your last name is. I would either create a new Yahoo ID, or at the very least, create a new public profile under that Yahoo ID and use that to chat with.

EDIT/CREATE NEW PUBLIC PROFILE

You can create 6 new public profiles (aliases or sub accounts) for each Yahoo ID. On your Friend's List click on Messenger at the top and then My Profiles. Then a box will appear...click on Create/Edit Profiles and on the yahoo member directory page sign in at the top and then you can click on View My Profiles on the right This will take you to a new window and you can click the button that says Create New Public Profile.

Make sure to save your changes once you do. Now exit yahoo messenger and log back in. When you go to join a room you will see a drop down menu by your name with your profile names for that main account and you can chat with one of those new profile names. You can also choose the profile name for IM windows too.

If your real name is showing up anywhere on Yahoo then read below.

REAL NAME SHOWING ISSUE

The link below will take you to a site that explains in detail how to prevent your real name from showing across all yahoo services, it is the best explanation I have found anywhere. Know also that in a PM the only name that people see of yours is what is in the blue shaded area at the top of the pm box not what it says in the white text area. And the name showing at the top of your instant messenger only you can see BUT your real name can show in other areas like when someone adds you to their friend鈥檚 list and even in yahoo mail so please read this article.

REAL NAME SHOWING: If you are concerned about this read this article %26gt;%26gt; http://www.wackyb.co.nz/Yahoo!_First_and... .It will explain how to prevent/change this across all Yahoo services.

I hope this helps you and please remember to vote if it does.

Wrong spelling in first name on air ticket?

I am flyin in a week to the US but whilst printing out my e-ticket i have just read that the travel agents have missed out one letter of my gran's name so instead of : LilAvanti its Lilvanti. will this matter? the travel agents are shut until Monday so what else can i do? because the essence of the name is still there. please help me!!!!!! will be VERY appreciated!

Wrong spelling in first name on air ticket?
Phone the air line and get it sorted - NOW!
Reply:Show up at the airport like it aint no thing. If they give u a big problem then u can quote the Airport Codes %26amp; Practices Act 1983 Section 16 which forbids them from obstructing your flight. Peace
Reply:No! The passport information is what goes on the manifest.
Reply:Most probably this isn't a problem at all (the check-in staff may not even notice), but if you rely on this then by Sod's Law your gran will probably be arrested or something! In the past most airlines would allow one letter to be wrong, but anything more than that was treated as potentially suspect. These days everything is stricter, so probably this as well. I would call up the airline (they are open 24/7) and if they say it's OK, get the person's name and position so that you can quote it at the check-in desk in case they give you hassle.
Reply:The ticket needs to be in the EXACTLY the same name as the passport, I would contact your travel agent/airline ASAP! You may be refused to board!!
Reply:try to get it fixed ahead of time bring all ID that you have and receipts of paying for the ticket, wahtever you can provide to prove you bough t the ticket. Im sorry to say but you are likely to get a rude interrogation in US so prepare yourself psychologically and prepare your hosts of wherever youre going that you could be delayed.
Reply:As airlines sometimes shorten names and this is a first name you should be ok but unfortunately it is your responsibility to check all details are correct at the time of booking. Lets hope you don't end up with a jobsworth at check-in! good luck
Reply:I had the same thing happen to me and it didn't make a difference, you can get the travel agent to give you a cover letter explaining their error. Make sure they put a contact number on the letter for the check in clerk. I did all of this and the check in clerk wasn't bothered when I explained what they had done. I think they get used to Travel Agents being plonkers but is best to explain it is their error not yours and make them back it up. Make an insistant nuisance of yourself if you have to, it may not matter to them but you payed good money for the ticket and airport security is necessarily tough these days.
Reply:If this was Europe it would not be quite so vital. Unfortunately, as it is the USA, the airlines are obliged to forward passport details to the US before departure. If things do not match up, things get a bit sticky. So, telephone the airline you are travelling with right away and explain what has happened. Actually, technically, you are allowed three letters mis-spelt. I mention this because the attitude you should take is that, there is a mistake, it is one letter, please fix it. Certain airlines do make a drama out of a crisis so just be patient and explain. It may have to be your Gran who talks to them though, as (again, technically) the airline should only talk to the passenger. If, as in one case I remember, the airline starts the "you will have to talk to your agent..." kick, tell them (politely) that it is still their ticket on their aeroplane and, as said, just fix it.
Reply:There may be a problem because of the error in the name. When flying they ask you for your ticket and if your not in the US but are flying to the US then they will have to have a passport. If the names don't match up then they probally won't let them fly. Just call the ticket place and tell them about the error and see if they can fix the problem or if they will let them fly. If they have a picture ID that may help prove they are who they say they are.
Reply:Get it altered asap,we went to Dublin,my mates name is Padfield, they put Hadfield, you would not believe the performance we had at check in
Reply:ring them up on Monday and explain it was their mistake , and if you cant do that bring a bill with her name. It will matter as i had the same problem 2 months ago as they misaked my name for birdie instead or bridie but i brought my driving licence and it was soon rectified! good luck but do rectify it before you go to the airport!
Reply:because of all the new requirements for US immigration all passenger data must match what is on your passport you can either contact the airline direct to change the name however if you booked the ticket yourself on the internet you maybe charged for the amendment on the booking if it was booked at a travel agent or airline travel shop then the airline would be at fault. Depending on the airline you could try and amend your name on line however unsure if this option is available, dont leave it till you get to the airport It will be more hassel than its worth,ie Q up to check in only to be told by the check in agent you have to go to the ticket office to get it sorted or if you were to check in online to reach the gate only to be told you cant travel due to insufficiant passenger data.
Reply:Not much of a need to worry since it is only a letter off. Call the airline and explain what has happened (believe me, it's not the first time). They will either modify the name and re-issue the ticket (with or without a fee depends) or they will just document the reservation with the correct spelling. Most likely it will be the latter. There is still time to have your travel agent "fix" it on monday since you are traveling in a week. Oh, does your travel agency not have a 24 hour service for emergencies?
Reply:It varies....I was once delayed because a ticket had Glen instaed of Glenn (Philadelphia airport).

This year the same happened at Pisa Airport but it didn't matter.

How can I change spelling of the name that shows before my e-mail address?

I didn't put my real name when I signed up because I thought it gave me some anonymity, but I am not John Smith and I don't want to be -- no offense to any John Smiths.

How can I change spelling of the name that shows before my e-mail address?
The name in your email address is the same s your yahoo username. It cannot be changed. You can open another account under a different username and start over. Yahoo also has an email function that will transfer your old emails and contacts to the new one. Caution: If you are in business or a paying subscriber to Yahoo service such as merchant account or auctions or other, changing accounts may cause lots of problems and Yahoo usually frowns on this. You can have a sceondary account though and retrieve emails into your new one from the old automatically as long as you don't close the old account. I had to go through all that once when my email was compromised and it took 2 weeks to get everything back to normal, but then, I have a merchant account. Hope this helps.

I'm going to have to say some version of Bauer Bodoni. Here's a $19 one http://www.ascenderfonts.com/font/bauer-...

And here's a faux free version from dafont.com. The G is a little different, but it's close http://www.dafont.com/font.php?file=bodo...

Received a Cheque with a spelling mistake in my name. Still cashable?

Theres an extra D. would it be a biggie?

So John Cruz is my name. and its written as John D'Cruz.

and then the person got lazy on the next cheque and just put J. D'Cruz. Think that would be a problem? They're personal cheques.

Received a Cheque with a spelling mistake in my name. Still cashable?
Yes people spell my name wrong all the time. However, I think when youg o into cash it just ask them how you should sign it. I think you have to sign it with the D'Cruz but maybe not just ask it won't matter. :)
Reply:not likely, why can you contact the person to re-issue you those checks and make sure he got it right next time.
Reply:Should be fine. When my cousin got her first check book, they spelled her last name wrong. When they do that, you have to get new ones. If somebody wrote you the check, then it should be fine. They might ask for some ID though when cashing it.
Reply:it should be fine.

Translitteration is spelling a name in another language so it sounds same How can you get Yahshua to Jesus?

Yahshua to Jesus doesn't add up

Translitteration is spelling a name in another language so it sounds same How can you get Yahshua to Jesus?
The NT was written in Greek. In Greek, his name is Jesus. When the Greek got translated into English, they stuck with the Greek name. It is not an example of transliteration, it is an example of incomplete translation.
Reply:Same way you get Noah's flood from a river flood in the Epic of Gilgamesh.
Reply:I think only in the english language is Jesus pronuounced with a J, as far as I know in spanish for example J in Jesus is pronounced with Y and and the rest is a reasonable IMO
Reply:Through translation, not transliteration.
Reply:just about everybody outside scandinavia pronounces bjorn borg's name wrongly - but people still know who bjorn borg is.

names don't matter: they are only a way of referring to things.
Reply:Yahshua to Iesous in Greek and Latin, to Heysous in Spainish, and then when the letter "J" is created circa 1550, Jesus in English.

English is the only language Jesus' name is prounced with a J.

.
Reply:I think it goes like this:

Yeshua or Yahshua is Joshua in Hebrew

The Greek way of saying Yeshua is pronounced "YAY su"

And the latin version of that is Jesus.

I could be way off but that's how I remember it explained to me.
Reply:Well, I know that in Arabic the name Yahshua is "Yasoo'a" and Jesus is " Eesa", so it's kind of close, I don't know what you're point is though, so I can't really help you much.

Peace.
Reply:you don't......

Yahshua is a transliteration of the Hebrew Joshua. The Greek equivalent of Joshua is Jesus.

The other common mistake is Yahweh for Jehovah. Yahweh comes from an old German work, but the word was transliterated into English from German.

In German, the Y is pronounced as a "J", and the "W" is pronounced as a "V" (like Weiner schnitzel, is pronounced Veiner schnitzel). So the correct pronunciation of the German word Yahweh is Jahavah, or in English, Jehovah.
Reply:"The word Jesus is the Latin form of the Greek Iesous, which in turn is the transliteration of the Hebrew Jeshua, or Joshua, or again Jehoshua, meaning 'Jehovah is salvation.'"

http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/08374x.h...
Reply:You have come upon one of the many problems in the history of Christian religion. In order to get Greek polytheists to abandon the worship of their Lord god, Zeus, and to then accept the Christian son-of-god as the son of their Lord god, Zeus, they had to change the original names "Yahshua" and "Emanuel" to reflect that he was the the offspring of Zeus.

Notice the second syllable is strangely similar to the Greek Lord God's name, from "Zeus" to "IeSeus" to "JeSus" = "Son of Zeus". Interesting coincidence? So you might ask where the "J" came from... the main Roman god was named "Jupiter"... so now you have the combination of "Jupiter" and "Zeus", which might be something like "JuZeus", which sounds a heck of a lot like "Jesus"! Just an unproven theory based on what I have read.

Jer 16:19 - "...Surely our fathers have inherited LIES, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit."
Reply:John in Tongan is Sione. They didn't always transliterate.

Yeshua is a Hebrew name which has been transliterated into Greek as Iesous (IhsouV: pronounced "ee-ay-SUS"). The English "Jesus" comes from the Latin transliteration of the Greek name into the Latin Iesus. Now Greek has no "y" sound, but the Latin "i" is both an "i" and a "j" (i.e., it can have a consonantal force in front of other vowels), the latter of which is properly pronounced like the English "y" (which explains the German Jesu, "YAY-su")That is why we spell Jesus as we do, taking it straight from Latin, but we pronounce the name with a soft "j" sound because that is what we do in English with the consonantal "j".
Reply:does if you go like this

Yeshua (ee-esh-oo-wah, or ee-esh-oo) goes to greek, iesu (ee-a-soo) or iesus (ee-a-soos), goes to latin Jesu (ye-soo) or Jesus (ye-soos), goes to English pronunciation Jesus (jeez-us).

Gradual 'evolution' in small stages, if you will.
Reply:different languages

the English Jesus is from the Greek through the Latin and not directly from Aramaic or hebrew
