Why is my name spelled in all capital letters on my drivers license?

And on tax returns, on court documents, etc.

Why is my name spelled in all capital letters on my drivers license?
Because it is faster to type all caps in when entering large amounts of data.
Reply:Because those documents are addressed not to you, but to a "fabricated legal person" - a fictional entity. A sort of abstract, artificial idea of a corporate body over which you have signing authority. At least, that's how I understand its meaning here in Canada. I'm not sure if the meaning is the same in the U.S.
