How do I legally change my name? Just the spelling of it?

In court.

You must petition the court for this. You don't need a lawyer, however.

If you are under age the court will probably not allow it unless your parents consent.

Reply:You have to publish in the Gazzete in India. And the newspapers ofcourse.
Reply:You have to get it changed by the court. Check with the local clerk of courts. They will have a form to fill out and let you know what the procedure is. You will probably have to pay a fee to the court and file a notification of name change in a local newspaper. But they make it easy for you by listing exactly what you need. In some places you can do it all by mail in others you actually have to show up in court and the judge asks you questions (although it is very easy to do).
