Need an opinion on the spelling of a name?

My husband and I have a name picked out for a boy but are unsure of how we want to spell it. Which do you like best? (middle name is David)

Reply:Very cool name! I like Kolten because there's less chance of it being mispronounced.
Reply:Kolton. It seems the most masculine of all the spellings and least pretentious -- only one missed letter (K instead of C) unlike the others where there's K instead of C plus the vowels seem out of place. I give you the use of K because maybe you have an affinity for the letter.

Reply:None. Coltan is a mineral that is found in the Congo used in mobile technology. It just reminds me of that regardless of spelling.

Reply:I am not sure how you should spell it but I have seen it spelled Colton. If I had to make a choice, I would say don't name your child this horrible name. I am not trying to be rude but it will set your child up for a lifetime of explaining how to spell his odd name. Good luck to you. If you are deadset on the name, I would spell it Koltan.

Reply:With unique names comes misspelling anyway, so you may as well spell it how you like. I know this because my name is unique and always spelled incorrectly. However, it's your baby boy, and so, it's your pick. But if you want my opinion, I'd say "Koltan".
