Edmund Pricharde. Can I make up the spelling for a name?
Is this an okay spelling for a name?
I would never personally care, and not even think twice about how it is spelled (well, not usually). BUT there are those people out there who are a little weird about these things, and it would drive them crazy. As long as you are okay with it, I say go for it.
Reply:If its for a character, you should make sure the name matches kind of where the character comes from. The Edmund Pricharde makes it seem (to me, at least) that this character is a sophisticated British man. You can make up the name all you want, just be careful of the impression you want to make upon an outside reader.
Reply:Edmund is the normal, Anglo-Saxon spelling (Edmond would be the French.) Pricharde to me _sounds like_ the Norman/French-English version of 'Pritchard,' but it doesn't make me wince and roll my eyes or anything.
To Gus S: Way to bring out the racist generalizations, guy. I know an Anthony and a Jessica who are black, and a Meeghan and a Krysten and a Cade who are white. Unusual spellings aren't necessarily beholden to any given race or ethnicity.
Reply:Its your name, you can spell it however you want, but i think its a little bit hard to pronunciate
btw, Edmund Pricharde has been used for some court thing and only a court thing, the names being seperate, so, no, it has not been used
Reply:I love it! Definitely, spelling shouldn't matter, plus I'd much rather have my name be Morgyn or Morgen rather than plain old everyday Morgan.
Reply:just make the last name a little less complicated to understand how to pronounce it correctly.
Reply:You can spell "Edmund" however you like!!!
Reply:I guess you can. Why not? :)
Reply:I think it is an okay name, but I can't pronounce the last name.
Reply:Black people do it all the time, and everybody seems to be cool with it.
Reply:I don't like the 'e' on the end of the last name at all.
Reply:yes of course u can make up the spelling!
its ur kid.
idk how else you would spell edmund tho but good luck with that!
