How strict is the spelling of passengers name with EasyJet?

We have booked a flight with EasyJet (few months away still) - unfortunately we have spelt the name wrong (Sophie should be Sofia). EasyJet want another 拢17.50 per name change per flight - then something extra so it comes to 拢51 or something in total. Are they stict at the airport checking in. I know i've shortened my name from Alexander to Alex and they didn't quibble it?!?

suggest you check a bit more carefully by phoning airport security or something. I know sometimes passport control can be very fussy
Reply:They go by the name on the passport. You may just have to pay the extra money or there is a HUGE possibility when you get to the airport, that Sofia will not be allowed to board the plane.
Reply:How have you managed to spell your name wrong?
Reply:I get the impression that EasyJet would bounce you at the first opportunity so they could sell your seat at a walk-on price. I may be wrong though.
Reply:its should be ok i think name change means if Say you booked for Smith and its being changed to Green ,

They only look at the passport briefly ,

Have you asked about the name being spelt wrong as its only first name i didn't think they'd charge you for that .
Reply:I spelt a mates name wrong once when booking flights and we had no problems.
Reply:I was got hassle because someone had booked a flight for me as Mrs and I am Miss - didnt stop me flying but I dont know how much agro you might get - I wouldnt risk it
Reply:you'll be fine. crack on
Reply:yes they are very strict- even if your title iswrong or your sex they will not let u board!!!!!!!! pay the fee tll be worth it!!!!!!!!!
