Help with the name of an Educational spelling game from the 90's?

There was a game on early pc's, where an old odd man served as a guide to this spelling game. You went from level to level first by collecting the letters of a word by doing tasks, then you went to a place where you spelled the word. There were fire monsters, mackerel to throw, etc, and the characters who spelled the words had masks at times.

Help with the name of an Educational spelling game from the 90's?
Was this game available in the UK? I have never heard of it.
