Which spelling of this name do you prefer: Nicholas or Nicolas?

Nicholas is the English spelling while Nicolas is the French spelling.

How much difference does that H make to you?

Which spelling of this name do you prefer: Nicholas or Nicolas?
Nicholas. It is the most common way and would prevent confusion. Nicolas seems like it is missing something.
Reply:Actually, I may be in the minority here, but I prefer Nicolas. It's a legitimate spelling, but much less common than Nicholas. Plus, I'm a sucker for French names, and this one happens to be one of my favorites for a boy- especially with the adorable nickname Nico (which somehow doesn't work when spelled Nicholas).

Reply:i like without the h

its a little more modern, and it's cool how you can use "nic" istead of "nick" because the first time ie learned the difference between the two, i was confused O___o it makes more sense! and i love eth name nicolas anyways.

nikolas woudl be even cooler
Reply:A lot of Europeans spell it Nicolas as well. I don't really have that much of an opinion on it, but I think I would spell it Nicolas. The H is not needed and it makes it bulkier, if that makes any sense. Like Sara with a H, not needed.
Reply:If you have a last name that is Germanic (English, Dutch, German ,Scandinavian) use Nicholas. If you have a last name that is Latin (Italian, French, Spanish etc) use Nicolas.
Reply:I like the H...My name is nicole and I am so glad I don't have the H, but in Nicholas it's nicer and if I was going to name my son I'd use the H even though I don't like it in my own name.
Reply:Nicholas. Whenever I see Nicolas, I always pronounce it "Nicole-as" instead of "Nick-o-las".. That's just me though lol
Reply:Nicholas. I prefer traditional spellings and Nicolas looks misspelled to me.

Love the name, it's my favorite boys name :)
Reply:I much prefer Nicholas!! I just prefer the look! Nicolas looks like it would be pronounced differently.
Reply:Nicholas because it's the original spellign and unless you live in France it's always gonna get mispelled! ~I LOVE Derek
Reply:Nicolas is maybe more interesting. But, I'd still go with the more familiar Nicholas!
Reply:Both are okay with me, but if I had to choose I'd pick Nicholas. I just think it is more visually appealing. The H doesn't really make that much of a difference to me though=]
Reply:I prefer Nicholas, it is automatically how most will be inclined to spell it.
Reply:Nicholas in my opinion, adds something to the name.

Congratulations!!!
Reply:I prefer the English version Nicholas
Reply:Nicholas def.

I'm just more used to seeing Nicholas. So that's how i would naturally spell the name.
Reply:Nicholas...which is my son's name. I think that the H is what makes the name look "complete".
Reply:I like Nicolas, not a big difference though:)
Reply:Nicholas, its just so much more complete.
Reply:i think nicholas looks better
