Spelling a babys name differant what do you think?

So i was having tests done at the Hospital the other day and the nurse said to me.. Im sure you have to correct alot of people on your name huh? (Its Tiffanie) I said yes but i dont mind, we actually plan on doing it with our daughters name 2 (Hanna) without the H at the end. And she looked at me like i was stupid and crazy! Whats so wrong with spelling a baby's name differant?? What do you think?

Spelling a babys name differant what do you think?
Hanna and Tiffanie are only misspelled sometimes. Its better than being mispronounced. I like Hanna without the H. Its going to be her name and having a common name but spelled different adds a unique value to it! Love it!
Reply:Nothing. It's your baby and if someone doesn't like it, they can shove it!!!

My step-son's name is Zackery.

I think it sets that person apart from others and that name stands out, which I think is good.
Reply:My name is spelled different and people say it wrong all of the time. I actually like the way that Tiffanie and Hanna is spelled. It's not too bizarre and out there. It will give your daughter a uniqueness from all of the other Hannah's.
Reply:i like it nothing is wrong with it we spelt our daughters name diff. from the original (shyann is her name)
Reply:i think its fine!

Im called Lucie, but people sometimes get it wrong by spelling it like Lucy.

I love the way my name is spelt becuase not that many people have it.

i think you should do it.
Reply:I have seen worse names then Hanna. So actually it's not to bad. But when people spell names like Emmaleigh (Emily) or Jennaphyr (Jennifer), that's when things get out of hand.
Reply:I personally don't like it when people change the spelling of the name, I think it just creates a lot of unneeded conversation and trouble. Just because you change the spelling isn't going to make your child anymore special or interesting than if you spelled it the conventional way. No offense but I just think that some of the spellings that people come up with are completely ridiculous.
Reply:In your case, choosing to spell Hanna "without the H at the end" isn't odd at all. That's a valid form used by a plethora of languages/cultures! Although it does technically change the pronunciation to HAHN-ah, rather than HAN-ah (at least in every language I'm familiar with), so something you should be aware of if doing it "just to be different." ;)

In general, however, purposefully misspelling a name -- especially a common one! -- tends to come across as poorly-thought-out and often quite ignorant.

The name is the same, as far as sound and popularity are concerned, only now the child is forced to deal with constant corrections or even assumptions of ignorance and illiteracy to boot. Quite sad, given the fact that they had no part in choosing something like grammatically-incorrect and phonetically-impossible Maudyshionne, rather than Madison. :( And the contrived monstrosities are far LESS visually appealing 99.9% of the time, so I fail to see the point. In most cases, it's just a bad idea in general.
Reply:nothing at all is wrong with it i love it spelled DIFFERENTLY NOT WRONG BUT IT JUST GIVES YOUR KIDS PERSONALITY i just had twins and i spelt my girls names

Felicitay (Fa-li-ca-tee) and Gabrilla soppose to be (Gabriella) by the way love the name Hanna My name is diff to its Jessieca instead of Jessica
Reply:i think spelling it hanna is gorgeous!

dont worry bout the nursee.!

GOOOD LUCK and CONGRATS!
Reply:I don't think Hanna is too different at all. I just dislike when people spell a simple name (Kayla) like Chaielea or something dumb like that. That's when it's stupid in my opinion, when it doesn't look phonetically correct.
Reply:WHY DO YOU NEED TO PUT that burden on your child?
Reply:I think it's fine. Maybe she looked at u that way b/c ur always having to correct people who spell ur name wrong, and she doesn't understand y u would do the same thing with Hanna's name. But it's a good way to make her name a little more personal. To each is own.
Reply:I think it's cute! Plus shortening it is better than changing it to like Hennauhh or something! Lol. My name is different than other peoples and I like it!! :)
Reply:I think Hanna is a cute name!! People are always going to have opinions, I have a few myself, but it's only my humble opinion. You can name your child what you want!!
Reply:I'm Kayt instead of Kate, and it drives me crazy having to correct people. However, Hanna without the H isn't awful at all. It is an acceptable variant. I can't stand it when people go nuts with names, like Kynduhl Pahtryshiah instead of Kendall Patricia.

Things like Hanna, Bret, Kathryn, Makenna, and Lia are all acceptable variants of Hannah, Brett, Catherine, McKenna, and Leah. Then, there are montrosities like Hahnayh, Breiht, Kathyreinne, MahKynnah, and Leeyeah! Hanna is cute without the H, although the symmetry of Hannah appeals to me.
Reply:I like Hanna - I like to be different - not have the same name everyone else has. I think it's great!!!
Reply:I think you are nuts! Spell it the way it should.
Reply:I LIKE it when people spell names a little out of the ordinary. It wouldn't bother me at all if people couldn't spell my name right, it's MY name, as long as I spell it right, who cares? My name is so easy to spell and say, but people still misunderstand me when I tell them my name, and people still use an 'o' sound instead of the 'au' sound. But again, I don't care.

Illyana's name is difficult for people to pronounce, but I'm sure when she's older she'll appreciate not being another girl with a common trendy name. So I say go for it! She'll be proud of it.
Reply:Nothing wrong with it at all. My husband has a daughter from his first marriage and her name is Austyn. A person's name should be special to them so you go ahead and spell it any way you want. = )
Reply:I think it is creative...it displays your child as an individual. I did this with my daughter Kyrsten instead of Kirsten. People conform too much...go for it!
Reply:It's your baby- spell it however you want to.

I like that name( and spelling), by the way.
Reply:I don't see anything wrong with it. I am having a little girl and we are naming her Madelyn (not spelled the traditional M-a-d-e-l-i-n-e). Go with what YOU want. I think Hanna is very pretty.
