Which name spelling do you think is better?

I know that it is only one letter difference, but which spelling do you like better? Loralei or Lorelei?

Which name spelling do you think is better?
Lorelei, of course. ;)

I can somewhat understand trying to use a spelling that better indicates the pronunciation of a name to English speakers -- such as familiar Angus rather than older Aonghus -- but there's little point in doing so with part of a name, and not the rest. After all, it really isn't difficult to understand that the Lore- beginning of Lorelei is said "lawr-e," so no need to misspell it. But then, if you're going to, wouldn't you find the -lei/"lie" ending spelling and pronunciation equally problematic?

In other words, short of completely butchering classic Lorelei to overly-phonetic Lawrelie or something, I fail to even see a point here. Lorelei makes complete sense. No reason to alter it. ;)
Reply:I think Lorelei is prettier, but I know two Loralei's who both spell it with an A. Still, I like it with an E better. Either way, its a really pretty name!

Also love Noelani. I like Leilani better than Lorelei.
Reply:Lorelai is how it is normally spelled.. i love it

If you prefer to have the A in there, use Loralee.

Then there is Lorelai but that is said different. The last syllable rhymes with eye.

Reply:I like Loralei better because Iike A's.
Reply:Lorelei. I don't think you want any name with "oral" in the middle of it. Crude, I know, but you want to avoid embarrassment and teasing.
Reply:that is a way cute name i love it... I think spelling it Loralei would be really cute

Reply:What a pretty name! I think I like Lorelei better, if only because that's the traditional spelling. The -a- though in Loralei is really cool, but might be prone to a lot of headache over the years with people spelling it with an -e- anyway lol. Even now my automatic spell-check is underlining Loralei in red.

Anyway, Good luck and Congrats!

very adorable name btw

Reply:Loralei. Infact, I don't know of it spelled the other way. If you are going to go with this name and is not so heard of, go with most common spelling. You can call her Rory for short, if you like it. I think it is quite sophisticated

Reply:The one with the "e" it just sounds more..........you know.......elegant...thats the word
Reply:As a Breann without the e on the end i would say Loralei. Having your name butchered your whole life sucks.
Reply:Lorelei.

Hope this helps.
Reply:I always thought it to be Lorelei but I sort of like the first one better. Both are pretty though.
